Chat Moderator Rules and Regulations

A moderator has a special power, which can make or break a chat. Keeping this in mind, a moderator should always follow these rules, or this privilege will be taken away.

1. A moderator presents the website. A good moderator can make/break a website! So be very careful of how you react in the chatrooms.

2. A moderator should always base his/her decisions on the facts presented to him/her. Never never assume anything! Always try to resolve the conflicts in a mature and understanding way, before attempting to ban someone.

4. Always be on the same phase with other moderators and keep them informed of the misfortunate situations so other moderators know what they are dealing with.

5. Never question another moderator in public. If in doubt, first try to resolve the issue and ask for explanation, then report the incident to the administrator.

6. A moderator does not have the power to rule the chat. A moderator is here to help and that's all!

7. Never let your personal feelings or incidents with a member throw you off-guard and act irrational. Always put yourself in their situation before attempting to solve an issue

8. Always let the chat administrator know of your absence. A day or two is not a problem but constant absence from the chat will make you loose touch with the environment and the members. As a rule of thumb if you are absent for more than 7 days you automatically loose the moderation right, unless you have let the chat administrator know before hand.

9. Encourage the members to use the IGNORE feature before attempting to resolve an issue.

10. Never assume someone is guilty before evaluating the situation and solving it.

11. Always try to resolve the issue in PM first, even if your site is talking in public.

12. Allow the member a minimum of 2 chances before attempting to ban someone.

13. Under no circumstances should you ever give your password to other members of the chat, even other moderators.

14. Each moderator can have a maximum of 2 usernames and can only administer the chat using these usernames. If using more than one username, your identity should not be hidden from the chat users.

15. A moderator can use other names to enter the chat, but please keep the following points in mind when doing so:

15. When a user is banned, the moderator MUST write down the reason in the specified field in detail. The group admins in turn need to create a report at the end of each month and submit it to be files. These information is very important and is in fact a record of the group participation.

16. The moderators should never discuss the decisions made within the group to the members of the chat, unless permitted by the group

17. A moderator is encouraged to make the chat environment as friendly as possible and come up with ideas and group discussions to make the chat a more productive place. (Please discuss your activities with the group before initiating it)

18. A moderator should always follow these rules. It's realized that special circumstances arise when one has to step out of the boundaries a bit, but it should always be with an explanation.

19. If a user is banned by a moderator, and the members ask why, a good moderator should always answer the members. If the situation does not allow for an explanation, the members should be informed of a later time to follow up.

20. A moderator should never give away other members identity, unless it's necessarily to resolve a major conflict. Please be very careful following this rule.

21. If you make a mistake, always apologize.

22. A moderator should never ban someone because a friend is being attacked on in PM. All members are equal!

23. A moderator should never ignore an insult to other members because the intruder is a friend. All members are equal!

24. A moderator should never initiate or engage in political or sex related discussions.

25. A moderator should always use his/her Iraniha email address to be in contact with the members or other moderators. This will be the number one source of communications for all moderators.

26. A moderator should always help the members use the chatroom and the site, Iraniha.com. Knowledge is the key! Please familiarize yourself with all the aspects of the site as much as possible.

27. A moderator should always greet the newcomers and make them feel part of the site.

28. A moderator should spend as much time as possible in the help section to help with the new registration and helping the members enter the chat.

29. The chat is based on the registration system and requires a valid email address for a successful registration. Many people do not have an email address to register. In such cases, always help them register and use their Iraniha username for their email address and ask them for a password. Once the registration is successful, email the information to the site administrator so it can become active. Also let the newcomer know that he/she can login to the chat within 24 hours.

30. A moderator becomes the members best friend in the chatroom, because he/she is protected by the moderator. Please do not abuse this trust.

31. A moderator will be the target for all sorts of insult. Never engage in a combat with the intruder and always be forgiving. But do not let other moderators be insulted.

32. A moderator does not have the power to protect him/herself from insults! The power can not be used in any shape or form to protect yourself. Remember you can always use the IGNORE feature! Only ban someone if the room is being effected by it.

33. If a moderator is not in a good mood, he/she should leave the room immediately.
